Prashar Lake

Parashar Lake, a revered body of water, is perched atop a hill near Baggi village in the Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh at an elevation of 2,730 meters above sea level. The lake is dedicated to Sage Parashar, with a temple dating back to the 13th century situated nearby.

One of the lake's most intriguing features is its floating island, which periodically shifts its position. While there are many local legends surrounding the island, some believe it has remained stationary for the past three months. The movement of this floating island is said to help locals predict weather conditions, allowing them to prepare for adverse situations.

Despite lacking a visible water source, the lake’s water level has been remarkably stable for centuries, according to local accounts. Surrounded by the snow-covered peaks of Himachal Pradesh for much of the year, visitors are treated to panoramic views of majestic summits like Indrasan and Deo Tibba.
