Embark on a 7-night, 8-day bike expedition to Tawang, a thrilling journey through the "Land of Dawn-Lit Mountains." Starting in Guwahati, the gateway to Northeast India, the route takes you through breathtaking landscapes and rugged terrains.

The expedition begins with a stop at Dirang, a serene village in Arunachal Pradesh nestled at 4,900 ft along the Jia Bharali River. Continue to Sangestar Tso (PTSO Lake) at 15,200 ft and the historic Bum La Pass on the Indo-China border at 16,500 ft, renowned for its snow-clad beauty and historical significance from the 1962 Sino-Indian War.

Tawang, perched at 10,000 ft, captivates visitors with its natural splendor and iconic landmarks like the Tawang Monastery, India’s largest, and Thembang Heritage Village, a UNESCO World Heritage Site showcasing traditional Monpa architecture.

 

The best time to visit is from April to June for blooming valleys and pleasant weather, or October to February for a snow-laden winter adventure. This expedition promises unmatched adventure, cultural discovery, and awe-inspiring landscapes.

Day 1: Guwahati Arrival | Drive to Kaziranga National Park

  • The group will assemble at the pick-up point in Guwahati where a brief introduction by the trip captain will be provided.

  • Afterward, we'll head towards Kaziranga National Park which is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is an abode to the Great One Horned Rhinoceros, Asian Elephant, Bengal White Tiger, and more. The South Asian Dolphin is also found in the waters of the park.

  • Upon our arrival, We'll check into our hotels in Kaziranga where we'll have dinner followed by an overnight stay.

 

Note: The riders will be allotted their respective bikes and a brief test run will be organized to get the feel of the two-wheeler.

Travelers who are already in Guwahati or those arriving by train should head to the Khanapara pick-up point.

Standard Check-In time is 01:00 PM.

Highlight: Kaziranga National Park

Day 2: Kaziranga National Park to Bomdila

  • After early morning breakfast, we'll check out of our hotel and embark on a Jungle Safari Tour amid nature and witness the wildlife from up close. Afterward, we'll head towards Bomdila which is a true tropical paradise known for its picturesque landscape and rich Buddhist influence.

  • En route we will visit Bomdila Buddhist Monastery (If time permits). 

  • Upon our arrival in Bomdila, we'll check into our hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure.

  • Dinner followed by overnight stay in Bomdila.

Highlight: Jungle Safari, Bomdila Monastery 

Day 3: Drive from Bomdila to Tawang

  • After breakfast, we'll check out of our hotel and head towards Tawang which is popular for being the abode of the largest Monastery in India. En route, we'd traverse the iconic Sela Pass which is a high-altitude mountain pass that connects Tawang to the rest of the country. We will also have the opportunity to view the stunning Sela Lake.

  • We'll also visit Jaswant Garh which is a war memorial dedicated to the soldier Jaswant Singh Rawat who bravely fought against the Chinese Army.

  • Upon reaching Tawang, we'll check in to our hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure but travelers can indulge in Cafe Hopping and explore the premise as well. Dinner followed by an overnight stay in Tawang.

Highlight: Sela Pass, Jaswant Garh, Cafe Hopping

Day 4: Visit Bum La Pass | Drive Back to Tawang

  • After early morning breakfast, we'll head out to visit the Bum La Pass which offers a striking view of the Indo-China Border. At an altitude of 15,200 ft, it is one of the most off-beat passes in the world which remains snowbound for almost the entire year.

  • Afterward, we'll visit the pristine P.T. Tso Lake which is nestled in the lap of the Eastern Himalayas. We'll also visit the Madhuri Lake named after the popular Bollywood actress.

  • Afterward, we'll head back to Tawang and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Dinner is followed by an overnight stay in a hotel.

Note: Please note that since Bum La Pass is an Indo-China border area, government regulations may restrict bike permits. In such cases, an alternative vehicle will be provided.

Highlight: Bum La Pass, P.T. Tso Lake, Madhuri Lake

Day 5: Tawang Local Excursion

  • After early morning breakfast, we'll head out for a local sightseeing tour where we'd visit the Tawang Monastery known as Gaden Namgyal Lhatse in Tibetan which is the largest monastery in India.

  • We'll also visit the Urgelling Monastery which is one of the oldest Gompas in Tawang and is also the birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama.

  • Afterward, we'll go ahead to witness the Giant Buddha statue which is 30ft tall and overlooks the upper regions of Tawang from an elevation of 10,000ft. Afterward, we'll visit the Chakzam bridge which is almost 600 year old and is suspended over the Tawang River.

  • Afterward we'll visit the Tawang War Memorial which is a shrine dedicated to the Indian martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the Indo-China War. We'll also watch the Light and Sound show that is organized in the memorial every evening and then head back to our hotel.

  • Dinner followed by an overnight stay in the hotel.

Highlight: Tawang Monastery, Urgelling Monastery, Giant Buddha statue, Chakzam bridge, Tawang War Memorial

Day 6: Drive from Tawang to Dirang

  • After early morning breakfast, we'll head towards Dirang which is a small hill station adorned by lush green forests and snow-capped mountains.

  • En route, we'd visit the Jung Falls which rose to prominence after being featured in the movie Koyla. You can spend some time here exploring the place on foot and simply relaxing.

  • We'd also visit Apple Orchards and Kiwi Gardens. (Only in season time) 

  • In the evening, we'll check into our designated stay in Dirang where we'll have dinner followed by an overnight stay.

Highlight of the Day: Dirang and Jung Falls

Day 7: Drive from Dirang to Guwahati

  • After early morning breakfast, we'll check out and head towards Guwahati.

  • En route, we'd visit Thembang Village which is a 12th century fortified village renowned for its Monpa houses.

  • In the evening, we'll check in to our hotels in Guwahati where we'll have dinner followed by an overnight stay.

Highlight: Thembang Village, Scenic drive to Guwahati

Day 8: Departure from Guwahati

  • After early morning breakfast, we'll depart from Guwahati with fond memories of the trip.

  • Trip Ends.

Cancellation Fees

  • 30 Days or More Before Departure: Cancellations made 30 days or more before the start date of the trip will incur a cancellation fee of 50% of the total trip cost.

  • 15 to 30 Days Before Departure: Cancellations made between 15 and 30 days before the start date will incur a cancellation fee of 75% of the total trip cost.

  • 0 to 15 Days Before Departure: Cancellations made within 0 to 15 days before the start date will result in a cancellation fee of 100% of the total trip cost.

Unforeseen Conditions

Weather Conditions or Government Restrictions: In the event of unforeseen weather conditions or government-imposed restrictions that lead to the cancellation of certain activities, we will make every effort to provide alternative feasible activities. However, please note that no refunds will be provided for such changes.

Rescheduling Policy

  • Requests Made Within 30 Days of Departure: Rescheduling requests received within 30 days of the trip start date cannot be accommodated, and the booking amount will neither be adjusted for a future date nor refunded.

  • Requests Made More Than 30 Days Before Departure: Rescheduling requests received more than 30 days prior to the trip start date will be processed without any additional cancellation charges for domestic trips.
